Thanks for trying ADvoid.
ADvoid is a browser extension designed for Amazon Prime Video to block the pre-roll ads that now appear before many movies, even for paying subscribers. Like many others, I find this practice frustrating, and it has even led to lawsuits over Prime’s "Immoral, Unethical, Oppressive, Unscrupulous Conduct." Personally, I find commercials revolting—our consumer-driven society constantly pushes unnecessary products, and being forced to watch ads on a paid service is infuriating. That's why I created ADvoid. While it's not perfect and has limitations—like only working on browsers, not smart TVs or mobile devices—it offers a simple solution: mute the ads entirely. Unlike tools that try (with mixed success) to skip or fast forward ads, ADvoid simply ensures you can avoid them altogether, muting both the audio and visual nuisance.
When the ad roll starts, ADvoid creates an overlay to block the ads visually and also mutes the tab to block the ads audibly. I thought there might be those with anxiety issues if I completely blocked out the ad progress so there's a little hole to see that bit.
You can set the ADvoid such that it will pause automatically once the ad roll has played through, so when you arrive back at the couch or whatever, your movie is queued up and ready to go, sans annoying ads.
And that's it. Hope some others find it useful and a step at returning to the former normalcy of being a Prime Video subscriber and enjoying movies without ads. Let's all keep an eye on that lawsuit and hope for justice.
